Abstract

The aim of the present article is to study the inherent irreversible effects in magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow over a stretching sheet with partial slip and convective boundary. The non-linear partial differential equations governing the flow and heat transfer phenomenon are reduced to a set of non-linear ordinary differential equations with the help of suitable similarity transformations. The transformed equations are then solved analytically with the help of the homotopy analysis method. The expressions for the velocity and the temperature fields are obtained and are utilized to compute the entropy generation number  and the Bejan number . Both numerical and graphical results are presented and discussed for various physical parameters involved in the problem.

Key words: Boundary layer flow, stretching sheet, partial slip, convective boundary, entropy generation.
